Latest pair not as soft and stretchy as previous pairs

My granddaughter loved the XS chitchat shorts she received in June 2023. The S pair I ordered in August are noticeably less stretchy. Nice crisp white color and opaque fabric. Returning because my daughter didn't love the adjustable waistband and she isn't growing significantly at this point so she doesn't need the adjustment. She prefers another brand that lays flatter against her waist so that she can wear these shorts under dresses. Fit TTS (ordered size XL and she has a 25.5" waist).
