My Go-To for Cool Weather Hiking

I'm a snowshoe/winter hike/ice hike addict living in the mountains of Northeastern PA. My motto is there is no bad weather, just bad gear. I've got fleece and down-lined pants from another retailer for the coldest of the cold weather that I wouldn't trade for the world. However functional those p...

Huge and awkward to wear

I initially bought these in a 12 petite as that's my most common size in Athleta pants (and the size I have in my unlined Brooklyn ankle pants) and these were huge! I sized down to 10 petite and they fit. The quality is good and the lining is soft, like the lining of the Attitude 2, though not in contrast. However, I could not figure out what to wear them with. I have more than 50 pieces of Athleta clothing and nothing worked. Just felt really bulky and it seems like the outfit the model is wearing is the only way to style them, including a trainer/sneaker without socks showing, which isn't very practical in cold weather. Plus I would still have to hem the petite version by two inches. For some reason the lined version with the wider leg having a stripe on the side just didn't go together (for my taste) so I returned the second pair too. I would love for other people to post their photos of how they are styling them and for Athleta to continue to offer some lined/warmer options in travel pants.

I like these pants for the ease of it at home, shopping and for travel. I am 5,5' and weigh 159 lbs and usually regular fits. I ordered size 8 in black and spice cabernet and have been using daily for the last 1.5 years. The pants last.....

I love the coziness and ease of these pants in the winter. They are usually warm enough on their own, but they slide easily under my super warm snow gear. A daily go to!

Great pants!

I love these pants - they are warm, comfortable, and perfect for the winter. My only wish is that they came in more colors!

Feel like you're wearing 2 pairs of pants

There used to be Athleta pants that were jersey-lined. These are not them. These pants are slippery inside, and they truly feel as if you're wearing a second pair of pants under them. They also wrinkle terribly, and the steamer doesn't take the wrinkles out as they do the other Athleta pants I have. Absolutely returning.

I'm a snowshoe/winter hike/ice hike addict living in the mountains of Northeastern PA. My motto is there is no bad weather, just bad gear. I've got fleece and down-lined pants from another retailer for the coldest of the cold weather that I wouldn't trade for the world. However functional those pants are, they aren't exactly attractive. These Brooklyn lined pants provide the perfect hiking pant for upper 30s to low 50s (they can work in colder temps with an underlayer). Just as importantly, they are beautifully tailored, so if I find myself going from a morning hike to a casual lunch, I don't feel as if I look like a mountain Yeti. I do wish they would come in other colors, but black always works. For reference, I am 5'7", 130 pounds and I bought a size 8 and it fits to my liking. I have have slim hips and thighs and there is plenty of room through the seat without bulk, I could probably do a 6 if I were just wearing them out to lunch, but I like my hiking pants to be roomy enough for a merino underlayer. They wash up nicely if you put them in the dryer for 2-3 minutes and then hang dry after that. I find that method keeps the lining from shrinking more than the shell. Would highly recommend.

They run large and I think length was longer than stated

Pants seem well made and comfortable. Will exchange for smaller size and see if they work.

Have multiple pairs of the regular Brooklyns so decided to get these. Great fit and a nice weight. Not as heavy as sweatpants but something extra for cool days. Really like the accent stripe on the leg. Not having the wrinkle issue that others mention. Would love these in a jogger too and other colors!!
