As other reviewers have mentioned, Athleta changed the cut of these shorts so that they are slimmer. The last few years, I was a size 4 in these, which was TTS for me and a perfect fit. However, this year the size 4 is way too small. Tried on a sz 6 and 8 in stores when I went to exchange, and the 6... fit better in the waist but the front pulled really oddly across the crotch area, and the legs were completely fitted to my larger thighs. The sz 8 had a better thigh fit, tho the waist band is a bit looser. Since it has the built-in drawstring, I went with the 8 so that I didn't have to worry about thigh chaffing in the summer. But to get a fit like the Coastline Blue has on the smaller of the 2 models int he photos above, I would've had to size up to a 10! The 6 fit more like the model in the Swallowtail Blue images, but the front pulled really wierdly across the front for me (I have a feeling they retouched this out, since I know they did this on the Brooklyn Pant marketing images when they accidentally posted the retouched image and the unretouched image one after the other in their stories...oops). I don't get why we needed a slimmer fit in this style, these are made for hiking and climbing, we NEED a bit more leg room to move around! Please bring back last years fit!
Trekkie North Shorts have been, for years, a staple in my closet. I love the quick dry fabric, the comfortable waistband, and the versatility of being able to dress them up or down. Unfortunately, as of Spring 2023, the design has changed - and not for the better. The entire waistband used to be a k...nit elastic fabric. In this iteration, they have brought the fabric up into the middle of the waistband and created a mock zipper. Only thing is, It gives you an INSTANT gut. It doesn't matter if you have a gut or not, these shorts will make one for you! I'm returning these because I like to look decent in my clothing. Please bring back the old styling.

I love my older Trekkie shorts with the button closure, please bring them back! They had that wonderful comfortable elastic band waist in the back, but in the front they were the same fabric all the way to the top with a zipper and button, like real shorts. The Skyline shirts have a button and they are a a cute look but they SHOW SWEAT like crazy!! The Trekkie does not! Please please, bring the button back. The elastic waistband on the Trekkie makes them just another workout short because it looks weird ro tuck in shirts. With a button you can go from hiking to lunch to shopping to whatever!

I love these shorts. I have them in 4 colors. The zipper pockets are great. The back pockets are wonderful for carrying my phone. Waist band is perfect. I wish they would make more colors available. Pink, sage, white and aqua blue would be great.

Nice dressier shorts. They are a good length and have pockets. The material is just ok a bit ruff.

I bought the black pair last year and wanted the navy pair this year. I am glad I ordered them when I did because they sell out fast. I like that the pockets zip. These are very flattering.

These are my FAVORITE shorts from athlete. It is hard to find a waistband on pull on shorts that don't have the gathered elastic band. I wish they had them in more colors.

The waistband is very wide—about four fingers wide—which makes the pants uncomfortable, especially given that they aren't low-rise; apparently, low-rise styles no longer exist, and now everything is high-waisted—something that doesn't please many people. Furthermore, they are very long; they could be a bit shorter, particularly if you are petite.
