This shirt runs bigger than most basic tees since it's more of a boxy fit. I went a size down to an XS (I'm 127 lbs, 5'4", 34c), and it's a perfect fit. It still is loose and not too short. I have the pretty shade of green and just purchased the white with the fine grayish stripe. This one pairs gre...at with my white linen waist high Athleta pants. It can be left out where it hits at the waist with no belly showing or tucked a little in the front. Both look great. I'm 65 and like the regular sleeve length, rather than a cap sleeve. Wish this shirt came in many more colors as it will definitely be a staple with all my Athleta casual pants.
The boxy cropped fit of this essential tee is just not a good look for my 5'7" broad shouldered LONG torso HOURGLASS athletic figure. Athleta used to carry the organic tees that hit mid hip (couple inches below hip bones), the waist was slightly tapered in (it gave the tee some shape, especially if ...you sized down) and the material was light and airy AND it could be dressed up or down. You could wear it to the office. They were perfect to do a front tuck with joggers, jeans, twill pants or tucked in for a skirt. I have many many colors and would have kept buying them. The boxy cropped fit of this 'essential tee' does NOT look good on me nor is it functional. It accentuates my shoulders and not in a good way (think: football player). It hides my waist (I look like a rectangle). If i raise my arms, you see my torso. Cool air flies up this tee shirt in spring/fall so i am cold, which is ironic given the material on these is substantial. It's strictly a casual shirt (can only wear it at home), so not functional. I know the cropped style is 'in' but I feel it isnt a great look for everyone. WHY not offer the option to have a different style? A slightly fitted cotton tee that is NOT cropped? Something that gives shape but not tight (which is appealing to a wide variety of people). Just bring back the organic tees that Athleta used to carry years ago. Pleeeeaase. I can't wait until this cropped trend dies, smh.
