I haven't worn shorts in many years. I exist in Brooklyn and Retreat Linen pants all summer to avoid chub rub, sweaty sticky thighs, sunscreen, the constant readjusting, and just generally don't like the way shorts look/feel. But lately I've gotten hot, too hot, so I gave these a try and I love th...em! I don't love the way they look, but that's just me. The shorts feel great--the fit is loose without being baggy. I can move however I like without flashing anyone or having to constantly tug them down. They are light and comfortable. I wear a 10P in the Retreat Linen Pant and medium in these shorts is perfect. (I am short, chunky, and I have a big muscular booty and thighs). I got olive (which has a beautiful subtle stripe texture) and I'd happily purchase more in other colors (navy please?).
I loved the Retreat Linen Collection when I saw it. And I love the idea of an ensemble with a top, shorts, and pants! When I saw it in the store, the collection was made of a very nice fabric but no petite sizes were available. However, the short and pants were both back ordered beyond the 30-day re...turn window for the delivered shirt. When I requested an extension to return the shirt until I had received the companion pieces, I was flatly denied. I wound up returning the shirt. I will probably return the shorts and pants too, rather than repurchasing the shirt. I hope Athleta Customer Service will reconsider its strict policies when its own supply issues created the difficulties for its loyal customers.

Pine is a beautiful color, the fabric is substantial, and the zip pockets are perfect. The waistband will hold you in without restricting. Sizes down to S from M. Can't wait to wear them this summer.

Comfortable and beautiful color. Pockets are well placed and zippers are well hidden. I guess I don't like how quickly and easily linen wrinkles. I returned them.

The length is perfect and I love that they flare out slightly, which is flattering. I erred on the larger of my 2 sizes as I feel that line should be loose. Would love to see these restocked in more neutral and summery colours!
