My daughter originally used these for gymnastics and they're her favorite short to wear at practice and everywhere else. She claims she gets less wedgies with them. She can wear out a pair of shorts pretty quickly but these ones don't pill as easily as the Nike pro shorts. Ever since getting these... she has also decided she doesn't want jean shorts anymore so I bought a few more pairs when they were on sale so she can wear them during the day and at practice. The size is consistent with the same type leggings/ flare pants. I normally line dry these but I've accidentally tossed them in the dryer with other clothes and they didn't shrink which was a plus.
My granddaughter loved the XS chitchat shorts she received in June 2023. The S pair I ordered in August are noticeably less stretchy. The material is not as comfortable and she finds them uncomfortably tight. Perhaps the "shine" version is different from the other pair? If that's the reason, Athleta... should have not called them chitchat shorts. It's frustrating when a product is great but then an important feature like fabric is changed and worsens the product. I for sure won't order these online anymore but will check them out in person at the store.
