Latest pair not as soft and stretchy as previous pairs

My granddaughter loved the XS chitchat shorts she received in June 2023. The S pair I ordered in August are noticeably less stretchy. Good idea to try on for accurate fit. Bought the same size in two different colors and one was baggy in waist. Might have been a retuned item or an item used on a mannequin but ended up sizing down in the black vs the blue
