I needed shorts that would stop the summer thigh chafing but keep me as cool as possible. None of my Featherweight Stretch or running shorts were standing up to the heat of this summer, they were riding up & sticking to my legs which allowed chafing. These are tight, don't roll (legs & waistband), a...nd protect my skin. The 7" inseam is perfect! I only buy synthetics that are recycled and I wash them in my Guppyfriend Bag to prevent plastic microfibers from entering waterways. Typically this rules out the whole Elation line because that is primarily Powervita, which is just polyester/nylon. So glad to see pockets of sustainability here and there in the yoga/Elation line. The rib material is super cute and the anthracite grey is just neutral enough with some interest. I would love a matching bra! Usually I go for the Ultimate line with the side hip pockets, but I prefer the ultra high rise options in the yoga line. This feels much more like my other ultra highs than high rise. I was surprised to find that the back waistband pocket is super functional and holds a phone, keys, and dogs bags comfortably. Now for the downside - I have been a super consistent XXS in Athleta for over ten years. This is the tightest waistband I have EVER encountered! Too tight to be comfortable when lounging or eating, at least at first. I am on my fourth wash/wear with them and now they are finally getting comfy. I would much rather have them start out too tight and loosen over time than start out right and get too loose, but wow. I have to put them on strategically - pull the whole thing over my knees and partway up my thighs before pulling them over my hips. I am thicker than usual right now but I got another XXS bottom in the same order and no issues. All in all, definitely a buy. But only if you have the patience to break them in. Normally I wouldn't advise sizing up in Athleta because that compromises performance over time, but this may be the exception if you are between sizes

They look way longer in the photos, I don't believe these are a true 7" inseam. "Ultra" high rise is just not true. They are a regular high rise at best. They are incredibly soft and the material is very nice. I feel supported in them. But I'd say size up or refer the the size chart. I am a true XL ...and I ordered a 1X according to my measurements. I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have been comfortable in an XL and they would have been way too tight at the leg opening. I thought I was splurging on an elite pair of bike shorts, but I'll stick with my usuals.

I very rarely leave reviews but came on just to review these shorts. I work out 5+ days a week and much like my millennial counterparts typically wear leggings. I've always had larger/muscular thighs and shorts typically roll up my thighs once I've been running/jogging for a while- essentially leaving me looking like I'm wearing a diaper. These shorts stayed put throughout my entire cardio workout. I didn't even have to adjust them once. They are very comfortable but provide enough coverage/compression. I usually do orange theory but can also see myself wearing these to a reformer Pilates class. Easily the best workout clothes I've purchased this year. Girls do not sleep on these, buy them!

I love the elation high rise !!! They are great for cycling or spinning or my weight lifting. The perfect length for this mom of 6, and I love to style when we have games for the kids or are just going out for the day. The fabric is buttery smooth and XS is what I usually purchase. I am 5'4" and 110 pounds. They have the perfect stretch and don't sag, or ride.

These were a great success in the thigh region. They didnt roll up during spin class for an entire 45 min. However the waist band rolls downs and scrunched. I got them on sale so I'm not mad about the price.

I like Athleta quality. What I don't love about these is the middle seam. But my mistake. I didn't pay attention to that detail. I find the seam uncomfortable and visually unappealing. If that doesn't bother you then these are great.

These athletic shorts do not ride up when running or working on strength. They are close fitting without being binding. Appreciate the sizing fit, and material which breathes well. Own multiple pairs to wear for my Orange Theory workouts. Great stuff.
