On the website these shorts are described as having a "high rise." But on the physical shorts, it's labeled as a "super high rise." Normally I love a high rise, but the rise here is so high about an inch is curling at my waist. For reference, I'm 5'4", leggy, and pear shaped.

The high-rise waistband doesn't roll down, the legs don't ride up, and the 7" length is plenty to avoid chub rub. These are great for biking but are so comfortable that they have become my go-to summer gym shorts for every workout. I bought one size up for my regular medium-impact workouts, and two sizes up for biking and yoga. #sweepstakes

I have the Salutation Stash leggings and they fit perfectly in a small - maybe a little less compressive than I'd like in the waist. By contrast, the Salutation Stash SHORTS in a small are more snug in the waist - way more compressive than the leggings - and actually too tight in the thighs for me. I'm muscular but not especially so, so my sense is that these are cut small compared to other items at Athleta. I wish I'd sized up to a medium. Quality and fabric seem nice, though.
