I am only 5'3" so I was worried that the 4.5 inch would appear too long, but I am glad I took a gamble. I have the trillium green shirt to match which made a super cute monochromatic outfit and a good weight for the season. I expect to also wear it in the fall some since it is a good color for bot...h seasons. I like the softness and stretchiness of the material. Very comfortable!
When I pay almost $50 for a pair of shorts, I expect them to last, at least for a summer. I ordered these shorts in both grey and black and have worn them each a couple of times and washed them once. Before wearing, the fabric was lovely and soft. However, after one wash (one!) the fabric inside is ...already pilling and past experience tells me that all that softness will shortly be gone in a bunch of bumpy little balls. Yuck. I'm so disappointed because usually Athleta products are of better quality - it seems even better quality brands are selling junk clothing lately. Please bring back natural fiber clothing and stop selling this trash!

I bought the shorts for my pre-teen granddaughter for she loves Athleta wear. She absolutely loved it. Waist band lays nice and flat was a big win! Pockets does not bulge. Great for pairing with crop tops.
