I wish I had kept count of how many tees I've purchased from Athleta. I could be a record breaker. This however is one of my favorite. The fabric is exceptionally soft and substantial enough not to be see through. I love the seam detailing down the middle of the back that gives a little interest a...nd improves fit. The length is long enough not to be cropped but short enough to be "in-style". Time will tell how it washes and wears. I've been disappointed in the pilling on some of the tees I've purchased at Athleta in the last few years. I don't think that should happen to tees that are never dried or at least not for a long time. I don't expect to have that problem with this one due to the fabric.
I was looking forward to replacing the basic tees in my wardrobe with this Essential V-Neck, but I was sorely disappointed by how short it was. I am large-chested (G/H cup) so yes, my chest takes up a lot of real estate when it comes to t-shirt material, but the bottom of the shirt barely covered my... belly button. The material felt high quality and felt like it would hold up to solid wear and washing. Just super-disappointed that I had to return all 3 that I ordered since I'm not cut out to wear crop tops. I have run into this with other shirts from Athleta (and other brands) - similar to their shorts, I just wish they came about 1" longer! I am only 5'3" so having things be too short should not be a problem for me. I am going to have to order again in "Tall" to see if those are better!

If you don't like cropped, wide shirts- skip this!! I'm only 5'2" tall (135 lbs) and ordered size Medium Tall thinking it would be long enough to tuck into jeans and not show my belly when raising my arms… nope. It's still very short and boxy. Athleta needs to start including height, weight, and size worn on their models. It's 2025… you'd think they could do this simple thing! They'd avoid unsatisfied customers having to return so many clothing items. I'd actually buy more if I knew I was getting the correct size! Maybe that's why they mark so many things "final sale, not returnable"- so you are stuck with an item that doesn't fit.

I bought this a year ago in grey and it was less spandex and more cotton. This seems to be more spandex. I prefer the cotton. Otherwise, I do like it as it is short and works great with linen pants and skorts. The V neck lays perfectly. I am 5 ft and 113 lbs and bought an XXS.
