Best. shorts I bought in 20 years. I hate my thighs. I can't stand high rise shorts. I avoid side pockets because they add visual heft. I don't buy shorts because they always leave me feeling self conscious and uncomfortable. But these shorts are perfect everywhere, top to bottom. Incredible fit, fe...el, style. Flattering and great for errands, hiking, lunch, day or night with heels or flats or flip flops or sneakers. Spectacular all around, just wish they had some more color options in warm taupe, linen, chocolate, raisin or dark blue or teal. I sized up and it covers well and is both modest and flattering. Buy them all.
Ok, so everything I buy at Athleta is a size 12. Everything always fits to a tee. Imagine my horror when I pulled these out of their package, and COULD NOT EVEN GET THEM ZIPPED UP. I was horrified. Double checked the size to make sure they were a size 12. They were. Got so freaked out that I pulled ...out last year's Brooklyn shorts to make sure I didn't unknowingly gain 10 lbs. They still fit perfectly. So thank God for that. But here's the thing…Athleta, why would you even make a pair of shorts so "off" in the sizing when you really seemed to have the whole thing down to a science? Trying to keep us on our toes? No thanks. These were promptly returned. Interesting factoid, the woman who did my return in store totally validated my experience. She had to go up 2 sizes to get a proper fit. I know people say that the size doesn't matter, it's all about the fit … but show me a woman who is willing to size up that much. The mental head game just isn't worth it.

These are very comfortable and flattering. The material is lightweight, which will be perfect for traveling. I would say they run true to size. I am typically in between a size small and medium in Athleta leggings (small fits well but slightly tight, medium is slightly big) and the size 6 shorts fit comfortably without being too tight.

I love these shorts, however, they do run small as they were a size 4 or a small and most of the athletic gear. I had to return and size up as these were very tight in the waist for me. I plan to order more colors.

I don't know what it is about these shorts but they are incredibly flattering. They have a tiny bit of extra structure in the zipper/belly area and I looked so "tucked in." I really love the gray color as well. Looks perfect with crisp white shirt.
