Best. shorts I bought in 20 years. I hate my thighs. I can't stand high rise shorts. I avoid side pockets because they add visual heft. I don't buy shorts because they always leave me feeling self conscious and uncomfortable. But these shorts are perfect everywhere, top to bottom. Incredible fit, fe...el, style. Flattering and great for errands, hiking, lunch, day or night with heels or flats or flip flops or sneakers. Spectacular all around, just wish they had some more color options in warm taupe, linen, chocolate, raisin or dark blue or teal. I sized up and it covers well and is both modest and flattering. Buy them all.

Ok, so everything I buy at Athleta is a size 12. Everything always fits to a tee. Imagine my horror when I pulled these out of their package, and COULD NOT EVEN GET THEM ZIPPED UP. I was horrified. Double checked the size to make sure they were a size 12. They were. Got so freaked out that I pulled ...out last year's Brooklyn shorts to make sure I didn't unknowingly gain 10 lbs. They still fit perfectly. So thank God for that. But here's the thing…Athleta, why would you even make a pair of shorts so "off" in the sizing when you really seemed to have the whole thing down to a science? Trying to keep us on our toes? No thanks. These were promptly returned. Interesting factoid, the woman who did my return in store totally validated my experience. She had to go up 2 sizes to get a proper fit. I know people say that the size doesn't matter, it's all about the fit … but show me a woman who is willing to size up that much. The mental head game just isn't worth it.

Love the high waist, belt loops, pockets, and fabric. The flared out leg openings didn't really work for my body shape but otherwise it's a nice and well made short. I sized up one size #sweepstakes

These shorts have so much potential! If the waist wasn't so high and snug for the hips, and they were actually 4" instead of 3" long, they would be the perfect summer short. I really wanted to love and keep them, but after trying 2 sizes, the fit just didn't work for me. I'm usually a size 6 in Athleta shorts, but the 6 was very tight all-around, and then the 8 was still snug I the waist, but then too much fabric at the leg openings. Hope they can fix the fit issue, though is seems some people really like them.

I wish the leg holes were a little smaller as they flare out in the back a bit since the material is a bit stiff. But otherwise, very comfy.

I bought these after really liking the pant version and they are super similar. I like the details and listened to the other reviewers that recommended buying a size up (thanks!). I appreciate that they aren't suctioned to my thighs, as I have a more curvy build, so now the test will be on if they rise up too much while walking!

This style of shorts is my favorite. The tailored cut makes them feel polished. I love wearing these because I look more put together. I ended up buying all of the colors available. Dress up a bit with button up or down with tee shirt.
