Best. shorts I bought in 20 years. I hate my thighs. I can't stand high rise shorts. I avoid side pockets because they add visual heft. I don't buy shorts because they always leave me feeling self conscious and uncomfortable. But these shorts are perfect everywhere, top to bottom. Incredible fit, fe...el, style. Flattering and great for errands, hiking, lunch, day or night with heels or flats or flip flops or sneakers. Spectacular all around, just wish they had some more color options in warm taupe, linen, chocolate, raisin or dark blue or teal. I sized up and it covers well and is both modest and flattering. Buy them all.
Ok, so everything I buy at Athleta is a size 12. Everything always fits to a tee. Imagine my horror when I pulled these out of their package, and COULD NOT EVEN GET THEM ZIPPED UP. I was horrified. Double checked the size to make sure they were a size 12. They were. Got so freaked out that I pulled ...out last year's Brooklyn shorts to make sure I didn't unknowingly gain 10 lbs. They still fit perfectly. So thank God for that. But here's the thing…Athleta, why would you even make a pair of shorts so "off" in the sizing when you really seemed to have the whole thing down to a science? Trying to keep us on our toes? No thanks. These were promptly returned. Interesting factoid, the woman who did my return in store totally validated my experience. She had to go up 2 sizes to get a proper fit. I know people say that the size doesn't matter, it's all about the fit … but show me a woman who is willing to size up that much. The mental head game just isn't worth it.

If you get your normal size - the front and side are PERFECT…. Until you turn around. The hook shape on the back rise is way too sharp. You don't have a Levi's wedgie fit wedgie. You have a super weird, take them off immediately one. Okay so size up right? Well then the whole thing is big and your butt looks completely flat. I might take the larger size to a tailor but man the Patternmaker was asleep on this one. And the fit model? I'm complaining bc I'm bummed but anyway. Good luck!

I have these shorts in three colors now. I am athletic and have a smaller waist with muscular thighs and I could not be more thrilled with these shorts. They make my waist look snatched and don't smother my thighs so I look more petite than I probably am. The material is thick enough for no panty lines even in the light pink but doesn't feel hot at all and has the perfect amount of stretch to maintain their shape but make it easy to chase my tiny kiddos around. And repeatedly bend over and pull them out of trouble! Pair with a crisp white t-shirt tucked in and sandals and I can go anywhere and look put together.

These are my go-to shorts. I LOVE them and bought them in nearly every color. As a person who is not a fan of shorts, I could live in these. They are SO comfortable, and they work perfectly with all the cropped tops that are currently popular. I don't like showing my stomach after two kids; however, these come up just high enough that all the cropped tops actually look great just brushing along the top of the shorts if not a little higher. It's the perfect combo if you're loving the croppy styles, but not the normal execution. They are true to size, and they are not too tight, just exactly as they should be, along the waistline, so everything in my stomach area just looks smooth. LOVE them - they are a summer MUST. True to size. I am 5'8" - 128lbs - and wear a 6.

The reviewers said it ran tight.. WRONG! I ordered a bigger size 4, too baggy. I got the 2..fit good. My waist is pretty small. I'm 5'3.5 at 126 lbs. Athletic build. If you got a tummy, you might want to size up. If you got six pack ..get your size. I have the give away the 4s to someone else.

Ended up returning. Ran small and fit wasn't my favorite. Super soft through. I even sized up one and it was still snug.
