Huge strap. Why??

The strap on this bag is enormous. Why such a wide strap? It looks huge even on the models. This strap would work for men, but for petite busty women like me it is a no.

The bag itself is functional, and has the capacity of what i need to carry with me. my short stature, the plastic strap adjuster is uncomfortably on my clavicle when I have the bag ideally set to my exact liking so, I must wear the bag either a bit too high or, a bit too low to my liking. I may end up returning the bag if I can't get past the inconvenience.
