Seems like a nice weight for a coat- can prob be a winter coat with a sweater under. But this runs VERY LARGE. My 11 year old loves this jacket. Perfect weight for warmth. Dressy enough to wear to church and casual enough for jeans. Runs slightly big. Daughter typically wears a 12 and we bought this in size 10.

I purchased this for my 11 year old daughter. I purchased the Lrg and it fits with room to grow next year. Most of the Athleta clothing I purchased for her this Christmas is an XL. She is quite tall (5'1") and lean. The coat is oversized, I am glad I listened to the reviews. I would say it's going to be great for running errands and milder days. I would not send her out to play in the snow in this. Overall, I think it's a win. She loves it and for the sale price it's a no brainer.

Jacket is a warm, packable puffer. I like the higher zipper, so that there is some lower face coverage when all the way up. Only thing off is the sizing!! I am an adult female, 5'10", 140lbs and the size 16 swallowed me!! I initially wanted to get this for my 7 yr old daughter, but the XS was ridiculously oversized. #sweepstakes

This jacket is a staple. Everyone needs a long black parka in their closet. I live in the brutal Northeast winters and was surprised how warm this jacket is considering the down material is thin and not bulky. I wear size XXS in women's clothes and the girls XXL was way too big. The size L and XL fits even with a baggy sweatshirt underneath.
