The waist of a size 14 fit for us, but the shorts were way to short and kept riding up, so we tried size 16, but the waist of that one kept falling down, and when tightened it only wrinkled up. Maybe for someone with a larger waist/hip size, but definitely not us.

Nice light material and great (but not overly short) length shorts for my active 8 year old. She loves them and wants to wear them all the time. Also she dropped some raspberry juice on them the other day and I was worried since they are very light blue, but they came out perfect in the wash.
