The waist of a size 14 fit for us, but the shorts were way to short and kept riding up, so we tried size 16, but the waist of that one kept falling down, and when tightened it only wrinkled up. Maybe for someone with a larger waist/hip size, but definitely not us.

These are my daughters favorites! She is 10 1/2, tall and 79lbs and wears size XL. These fit great and will fit her for a while. We have bought several due to the excellent quality and fit. Not to mention stunning colors. Athleta keeps us coming back for more!
