Why are the lengths so WEIRD!?!?!?!?!

The waist and legs fit normal, but I am so confused about the length sizing for all the flare pants I have bought from Athleta. I am 5'8, which is not all that tall, but apparently too tall for 'regular' flare pants. 'Regular' length pants are far too short - my mom would say I look like I'm waiting...

Please have more size Medium available (especially during sale times ;)). I've tried to find and purchase these for my daughter but unfortunately size medium is not available. These are very convenient with the pockets and the material is soft and with just the right amount of hug. She wears these all the time.

The fabric is soft and silky with just the perfect amount of compression, and the petite length is perfect for my 5'0" frame.
