I saw this skirt online, on sale, and went to my local store to try in person as there were very few reviews. I went into the store thinking I wanted the blue skirt, but decided that the black is the better option for both my "occasion" and casual wear. (But the blue is beautiful; it was a hard choi...ce.) I'm 5'2" about 135 lbs and tried both the S and M. (No petite sizes but I wanted maxi not midi so in this case the limited sizing did not bother me. Usually it does! Make more sizes in more lengths and profiles!) I could have gone with either size but bought S as there was slightly less fabric than the M. The waist does not hang down on me as in the model photo, mostly bc when you're shorter there's not so much room between waist and hips and I'm kinda curvy. It's a beautiful skirt, well stitched, not overwhelming, and with pockets you can actually use. Oh, and this is much nicer than the BR or Gap versions as it is not as full and therefore has a bit more structure to it. I love it.
The skirt is just frumpy. Built like a balloon, should have been designed with a better flow and a shorter length. I was also between sizes and you want to be comfortable in this skirt. Thinking it would be a better design with the brooklyn material for hot weather.

Purchased this skirt on a whim from the sale rack before a trip to Asia and was SO glad that I did. Fabric stayed relatively wrinkle-free in a suitcase and the style is easy to dress up or down. Pockets are functional and honestly, the best aspect was ease when using open air toilets in China-- quick and sanitary.
