My regular size is XS in Athleta bottoms but sometimes I have to size up or down. I tried this in XXS, XS, and S. I really liked the fit in the hips and legs in the XXS, but the waistband was like a boa constrictor - too tight. The waistband was too big in size S, but just right in XS. The hips and ...thighs get progressively wider (as well as the waistband) each size up. They are way to baggy on me in sizes XS and S, particularly with a weird bulge starting about half way down the thighs - the pants look frumpy because of this. The ankle detail is cute in the size XXS but, like the hips and legs, the ankle portion of the other sizes is too big. I like that the waistband is flat. I like the secured zipper pocket inside the drop-in pocket on one side. I like the ankle detail. I like the soft fabric. If Athleta reworked the design on these pants so that the XXS hips and legs fit with the XS waistband, they'd be perfect. Based on the reviews, plus my own experience, I'd suggest getting your normal Athleta size and find if it fits with your body type or not. Don't bother trying alternate sizes as you likely won't end up liking them. I really hope Athleta reworks these and sells an improved version next year. I'd buy in multiple colors if they do.
