I saw this skirt online, on sale, and went to my local store to try in person as there were very few reviews. I went into the store thinking I wanted the blue skirt, but decided that the black is the better option for both my "occasion" and casual wear. (But the blue is beautiful; it was a hard choice.) I'm 5'2" about 135 lbs and tried both the S and M. (No petite sizes but I wanted maxi not midi so in this case the limited sizing did not bother me. Usually it does! Make more sizes in more lengths and profiles!) I could have gone with either size but bought S as there was slightly less fabric than the M. The waist does not hang down on me as in the model photo, mostly bc when you're shorter there's not so much room between waist and hips and I'm kinda curvy. It's a beautiful skirt, well stitched, not overwhelming, and with pockets you can actually use. Oh, and this is much nicer than the BR or Gap versions as it is not as full and therefore has a bit more structure to it. I love it.

Super flattering fit. Easy and comfortable waistband and the length is good too. I'm 5'2 and hits just at my ankles. If I want it higher I just roll the waistband up a few times.

Bought the blue, and I'm thrilled with this skirt. I'm an xxs, and I've found that Athleta's "vanity sizing" makes it difficult for me to find something that fits. This skirt, however, works great. It's tight enough in the waist, and it "poofs" slightly for a feminine effect. For reference, I'm 5'8" and 120#s.
