5'3" 116lbs athletic build and I prefer the fit of the girls XXL over women's version in XS or S (tighter than necessary in the thigh and too high rise for my preference). Super comfy and not too short. The only negative is that they do ride up a little when I run in them but for gym workouts, yoga,... walking they're perfect!
My granddaughter loved the XS chitchat shorts she received in June 2023. The S pair I ordered in August are noticeably less stretchy. The material is not as comfortable and she finds them uncomfortably tight. Perhaps the "shine" version is different from the other pair? If that's the reason, Athleta... should have not called them chitchat shorts. It's frustrating when a product is great but then an important feature like fabric is changed and worsens the product. I for sure won't order these online anymore but will check them out in person at the store.

My daughter needs bike shorts to wear under her uniform. She is very picky and out of so many brands these are the ONLY bike shorts she will wear. Super soft and no tags (but I can still see the printed label inside the shorts). She also wears other colors in the summertime. Highly recommend

My daughter normally like 2" shorts. This pair is a bit longer, but has a similar look without my kid constantly adjusting them down. Looks appropriate for my 10yo daughter's cheer practices. We got a size 12, but should have gotten size 10. They are roomy, but stay on. My daughter likes them a lot. Got in two different colors.
