Was a little nervous about these given the mixed reviews on fit/fabric, but found they look and fit quite nicely -- once I tried a couple sizes. Fortunately I live near a store that had them in stock. I'm 5'9, 135lbs, and assumed I needed the small; however the sales associate told me to try an XS ...as well, and sure enough, the XS fit was better. Other than the waist having more give in the S (not overly so, and it cinched in fine with the drawstring without bunching), the additional fabric on the S was a little noticeable in the lower abdomen and lower back area, and the legs were a little wider. It wasn't frumpy/baggy at all though and I wouldn't have been upset getting the S if the XS was sold out...but the associates were right, the XS had a slightly cleaner look to it. I don't mind the material at all, but know that lighter poplin fabrics almost always have a bit of transparency to them, so you will see the pockets and you will want to be sure you're wearing the flesh-colored undies (that being said, I still bought the citron color bc I loved it). I think these are great for walking/light hiking, as a coverup at the beach or wherever, or for general casual wear. Not what I'd wear to the gym, but I'd repurpose them for jogging on vacation if I didn't want to pack extra workout clothes.
I found these shorts to be generously sized in the leg, to the extent that they are not flattering. If you are looking for shorts to lounge around, work from home, or garden in - these are perfect as long as you don't mind looking puffy in them. Also, it's worth noting that the cut does not offer an...y coverage of you bend over because they are cut so generous. I trotted returning to size down but the waist runs true to size, so that was not an option.

#Sweepstakes. Honestly, I'm not quite sure about these shorts. I think it's the fabric. The fabric is a little stiff and the fit is more puffy. I purchased a poplin top to wear with the shorts, but that definitely is a no. I guess many styles come back around, but These shorts remind me of shirts I wear 60 years ago.

My new favorite shorts for running around doing most anything in hot, humid summer days. I now have them in two colors! Medium is my typical size for bottoms in most brands, the medium in these shorts was perfect. They don't bunch up between my legs when I walk around the way other shorts do.
