There are some mixed reviews on this dress in the reviews, but I think it's great! I have lupus which is severely triggered by UV rays. The material of this dress is UPF 50, so it is perfect for hiding from the sun. I intend on using it mainly as a coverup on the beach, but I think you could dress it up with a fun sunhat and sandals if you wanted to be more fashionable. The dress is very big, I'm usually between a small and medium and I went for an xxs. I am giving it 4 stars because it kind of looks like a lab coat, but all I wanted was something that would protect me from the sun, and this fit the bill!

OK this is definitely in no way a dress, at least not any dress I've seen, but I'm glad Athleta considered it a dress for the purposes of a discount on dresses! LOL It's more like a huge, long, billowy overshirt. I'm an L or XL in most tops and dresses but I got this in a M and I'm still swimming in it, but like, in a good way. I plan to wear it as a sort of dramatic loose layer with all the buttons open over a skinny black tank dress or leggings and a t-shirt. It will be great in summertime.

I love this dress so much! I have several of the shirts in the same material and they're perfect for work and travel. The buttons down both sides are so cute and make this a really great staple. I did size down as I'm normally a 2X and ordered the XL which fits perfectly.

It's exactly as pictured. If you're thinking of belting it and wearing it as a shirt dress—you can't. I ordered to size and it fits in the shoulders and chest but after that it really billows about. It's made to be worn open and / or loose as shown. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd tried it on in a store but I ordered it and don't hate it enough to return it. It's a solid "meh".

No offense to the designer but this is like a graduation gown gone wrong…but bigger. I'm grateful I don't have to hide my body this much. Immediate no. If it was a final sale I would have hemmed it to a miniskirt length which would balance the oversized fit. Two stars is if I turned it into miniskirt.
Dear Athleta: You are selling "premium clothing for premium pricing", you need to use Premium Fabrics. This shirt/dress/caftan should be linen or cotton or a combo of both, what it actually is is a combo of two different plastic based fabrics. Why? I like a lot of your pieces, and still buy some, but luxury clothing is made from cotton, cashmere, wool, flax linen- not plastic. Please take this free advice to upgrade your product line.
